As a Junior/Assistant Rose Breeder, you’ll work on creating innovative rose varieties, combining applied breeding research with data collection and analysis, always focusing on high-quality breeding processes.

Interplant Roses has been a global leader in rose breeding for decades. We blend deep-rooted expertise in traditional rose breeding with cutting-edge techniques to create new, exciting products. Our varieties, including our spray roses and the #ashtag series, are known for their outstanding ornamental value. Sustainability is also a key focus for us, particularly through resistance breeding. To meet our goals, we’re looking to expand our breeding team. In addition to our breeding site in Harmelen, we also operate a breeding and testing location in Kenya and have testing locations in other major rose-growing regions around the world.

You’ll be an integral part of the research and breeding team in Harmelen, working closely with our colleagues in Kenya. Your tasks will include:

  • Seedling selection trials
  • Setting up and conducting vase-life tests, plant trials, and bio-assays
  • Collecting and analyzing trial data
  • Implementing molecular marker data
  • Breeding administration in E-Brida

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field like plant breeding
  • Preferably experience in breeding and/or greenhouse horticulture
  • Strong analytical skills and a critical, structured approach
  • Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus
  • A passion for applied breeding work

  • A dynamic, informal, and enthusiastic research and breeding team
